4 Gaymer Memorial Cottage

The retrofitted cottage

4 Gaymer Memorial Cottages, Attleborough, Norfolk

We completed our retrofit of a 1940s almshouse in Attleborough, Norfolk in March 2011.  The bungalow started out as a poor performer in terms of energy efficiency and thermal comfort, but through retrofitting a variety of measures, including increased insulation and a suite of renewable technologies, we were able to improve its rating from G to B, and achieved an excellent 92% reduction in carbon emissions.  Read more about what we did at our dedicated blog – Green Gaymer Blog at:  http://www.hastoe.com/redirects/blog/?redirect=true&alternateurl=true&infoid=421

You will also be able to find out more about the resident who moved into the cottage – Mrs. Margaret Lawrence – who actually saw the cottages being built in 1946, including her thoughts about living in the cottage and how it has impacted on her life and living costs.
